Breeding
|
The first mare
in our breeding was the qualitymother Gyðja
from Stokkhólmur. We got her 1993 and let her have a foal with Byskup
from Hólar. The first foal in our property came at the year 1994 but that was
the 1. prize stallion, Fálki from Höfn 2. He's chestnut with a star and a snip
and is now in Norway. The second foal
was the black pinto Kofri from Morastöðum, sired by Haukur from Akurgerði. He's
also a 1. prize stallion with 8,31 for riding abilities and is now in Sweden. From Kofri has
many good horses come, but the most talented is probably Gangster from
Sperðli, who until recently was in our property. His offsprings are also very
good but few of them are older than 4 years old. High foot lift and good gate
is what we see most in Gangster's offsprings.
Gyðja has given
us many of our best horses and we try to hold tight in that bloodline. Gyðja
was sired by Rauður 618 from Kolkuós and Nótt from Kirkjubær who gave many good
horses. We have also bought some new mares and the time will tell us what will
come from them. Our breeding prospective is to breed quality horses with good foot
lift and good gates, horses that everyone can be proud of.
